The tax season is officially open! Auto-assessments have already started being issued by SARS from 1 July – 12 July 2026. Non-provisional taxpayers must submit their personal tax returns from 13 July – 23 October 2026.
A company must submit their income tax returns within a 12-month period after its financial year end. Provisional tax must be submitted twice a year, every 6 months from the start of the business financial year.
In accordance with SARS guidelines, a taxpayer must register for provisional tax where income is earned and is not deducted through employee taxes, and exceeds the threshold, which is currently R99 000 for the 2027 financial year. This also includes being a business owner and drawing a salary, interest/investment income above the minimum threshold and rental income.
